State Police Respond to Fatal Crash on Route 9 West in Windsor

Today at about 6:50 p.m., State Police from the Cheshire Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 9 West in Windsor, just prior to the Dalton town line.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Gamari, indicates that 55 year-old G. Allan Stahl of Worthington, was operating a 1991 Toyota pick-up truck on Route 9 West, just prior to the Dalton town line. The Toyota struck the guardrail and rolled over several times going off the right side of the roadway.

The Stahl was transported by ambulance in serious condition to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Stahl was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Windsor Police Department, Windsor Fire & Ambulance, Dalton Police Department, and State Police Crime Scene Service Section assisted troopers at the scene.
