On November 29, 2006, at about 5:05 p.m., State Police from the Cheshire Barracks responded to a two vehicle crash on Route 9 in Windsor, just prior to the Dalton town line.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Louis Bennett indicates that 60-year-old Robert E. WaryJasz of Plainfield was traveling on Route 9 West in Windsor in a 2004 Chevrolet Astrovan. Around the same time and in that area, 43-year-old Raymond Huntoon of Hinsdale was backing a 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer out of a driveway on Route 9 West. As Huntoon attempted to move his vehicle back onto the driveway, the rear of the trailer was struck by the Astrovan.

WaryJasz was transported by ambulance to Berkshire Medical Center where he was subsequently pronounced dead. His passenger, 41-year-old Sherri Sulewski of Plainfield was transported by ambulance to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Huntoon was uninjured in the crash.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No charges have been filed at this time. The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, State Police Crime Scene Services, Dalton Police, Windsor Police and EMS and Pittsfield EMS all assisted at the scene.

Route 9 West was closed for about 3 hours.
