State Police Respond to Fatal Crash on Route 128 South near Route 38 in Woburn

Today at about 6:30 p.m., State Police personnel responded to a one-car crash on Route 128 South, near Route 38, in Woburn. The crash resulted in one fatality.

The preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Gray indicates the following: The male driver of a Replica T-Buck, Daniel W. Sullivan, age 58 of Billerica was traveling south on Route 128, near Route 38, in Woburn when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving. His vehicle then struck the guardrail and he was ejected from the vehicle. Daniel Sullivan was transported by ambulance to Lahey South Hospital in Burlington for serious injuries and later declared deceased there.

Members of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Massachusetts Highway Department and the Woburn Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene. The right travel lane of Route 128 South near the crash scene and the on-ramp from Route 38 to Route 128 South were both closed for about one hour during the crash investigation.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation. Please do not contact the barracks directly for media inquiries. No further information is currently available for disclosure.
