State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 495 in Andover

At approximately 8:30 p.m. this evening, Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Andover responded to a serious crash involving one motor vehicle on Route 495 South, south of Route 93 in Andover.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Leduc indicates that Andrew BRADLEY, 54 years old from Methuen was operating a 1996 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Route 495 when he lost control of his vehicle, veered to the left, exited the roadway and rolled over several times in the median. BRADLEY was trapped inside the vehicle. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Andover Fire Department and transported to the Lawrence General Hospital. He subsequently died at the hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Although speed appears to have been a factor, this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Crime Scene Services Section. The Andover Fire and Police Departments and MassHighway assisted the Troopers at the scene.

Following the crash the left southbound lane was closed for approximately two and one half hours.

No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
