State Police to Conduct Award Ceremonies
On Tuesday, May 22, 2007 Colonel Mark F. Delaney, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, will be recognizing 55 members of the Massachusetts State Police, 2 members of the Springfield Police Department, 1 member of the Brockton Police Department, 1 member of the Massachusetts Environmental Police, 1 Member of the U.S. Army, 1 member of the Essex County District Attorney's Office and 3 civilians. The awards to be given include the Medal of Valor given for bravery and courage, the Medal of Merit given for achievement and the Medal of Lifesaving given for saving the life of another.
Attending the ceremony will be the survivor of a near drowning incident on March 3, 2007 in Plymouth Bay, the parents of a child recovered after a successful Amber Alert that took place on February 23, 2007 in Winchester, and a Mass Highway employee who will be recognized for putting his own life in danger to protect a trooper on Route 495 in Middleboro on January 10, 2007.
The ceremony will be held at the State Police Headquarters in Framingham at 7:00 p.m. Members of the media are welcome to attend the ceremony.
