State Police Respond to a Fatal Crash on Route 495 in Bellingham

Today, at about 4:10 p.m., State Police from the Millbury Barracks responded to a crash on Route 495 North, north of Exit 18, in Bellingham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Paul Weinschenk indicates that a Honda Civic became disabled in the acceleration lane of Route 495 North, north of Exit 18, in Bellingham. The female operator of the Honda, Anita A. Daly, age 74, of Sutton, exited her vehicle and walked into the right travel lane. She was then struck by a Ford F150 which caused her to be knocked into the left travel lane, where she was struck by a Nissan and then by a 2002 Chevrolet K1500. The operator the Ford, Donald Roach, age 76, of Barrington, RI, the operator of the Nissan, Adam LaPointe, age 28, of Worcester, and the operator of the Chevrolet, Jacob N. Dushane, age 29 of Feeding Hills, were uninjured in the crash. The female pedestrian was transported to Milford Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. The State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Bellingham EMS and the Massachusetts Highway Department assisted troopers at the scene.

The left travel lane and the middle travel lane of Route 495 North were shut for about 4 ½ hours.
