State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 128 North in Beverly
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Carolyn Mansi indicates 30-year-old Gary S. Morris Jr. of Swampscott was operating a 1995 Yamaha FZR600 motorcycle on Route 128 North in the right lane when it collided into the rear of a 1999 Honda Accord, operated by 51-year-old Gregorio R. Abesames of North Andover, that was also traveling in the right lane. After that collision Morris was thrown from the motorcycle and he came to rest in the right travel lane where a 2003 Toyota Camry, operated by 42-year-old Ilene G. MacDonald of Beverly, struck him. It is unknown if Abesames or MacDonald were wearing safetybelts at the time of the crash, but they were both uninjured. Morris suffered serious injuries and was transported to Beverly Hospital by Lyons EMS.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Beverly Fire Department, Beverly EMS, The Danvers Police Department and Lyons EMS assisted troopers at the scene.
Due to the investigation and vehicle recovery the right lane of Route 128 was closed for approximately 2 hours, but traffic is able to pass the scene in the left lane.
No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
