State Police Investigate Bourne Bridge Crash

On January 13, 2007, at about 3:50 p.m., State Police from the Bourne Barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Bourne Bridge in Bourne.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper William Langmead indicates that 42-year-old Michelle Mirotta of Buzzards Bay was traveling westbound on the Bourne Bridge in a 2001 Ford Explorer when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash in the eastbound travel lane. Her vehicle was then struck by a 2000 Kia Sephia, operated by 21-year-old Manuel Jesus, who was traveling eastbound at the time.

Jesus and his three passengers, a 33-year-old male, a 23-year-old female and a six year old male, were all transported by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Mirotta was uninjured in the crash.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Boune Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The Bourne Bridge remained open but obstructed during the cleanup. It was closed for a brief period to remove the vehicles.
