State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 93 South in Braintree

Yesterday, at approximately 11:15 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Milton Barracks responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 93 South, just south of Route 37 in Braintree that resulted in on fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Mark Lombardi indicates that 30 year-old Calvin G. Silva of Fall River was operating a Gradall excavator in the second travel lane when he was struck from behind by 91 year-old Cecelia Sullivan of Foxboro operating a 2005 Ford Taurus sedan. Sullivan subsequently spun out into the third travel and was struck by a 2003 Toyota Camry sedan operated by 55 year-old Stephen Donahue of Waltham. Sullivan was transported by ambulance to Milton Hospital where she was later declared deceased.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Team, Braintree Fire Department, MassHighways assisted troopers at the scene.

Due to the crash investigation and vehicle recovery, the three right lanes of Route 93 South were closed for approximately 2 hours.
