State Police Seek Suspect in Brimfield Accosting and Assault

On Saturday July 21, 2007 at approximately 12:15 p.m., Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge responded to a report of an accosting and assault of an adult female who was jogging on Little Alum Road in Brimfield. The suspect has been identified as 54 year-old Robert R. Burno Jr. whose last known addresses were in West Springfield and Ware.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Matte indicates that the victim was jogging on Little Alum Road in Brimfield when she was allegedly approached by Burno, operating a black 1989 Plymouth Horizon hatchback. Burno is alleged to have driven by the victim several times at a very slow speed and then attempted to force her against the guardrail with his vehicle.

Warrants for Burno's arrest have been issued out of the Palmer District Court charging him with:

  • Annoying and Accosting
  • Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
