State Police Investigate Serious Pedestrian Crash on Memorial Drive in Cambridge

Yesterday, at approximately 11:05 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Brighton responded to a serious pedestrian crash on Memorial Drive westbound at DeWolfe Street that resulted in one serious injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Scott Euson indicates that a 2005 Hyundai SUV operated by 53 year-old Valerie F. Patterson of Boston was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive at Dewolfe Street when she struck a pedestrian, 75 year-old Frank Derosier of Boston. Derosier was transported by ambulance to Beth Israel Hospital with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Cambridge Police and Fire Departments and the Department of Conservation and Recreation assisted troopers at the scene.

Due to the investigation, all four lanes of Memorial Drive were closed for approximately 4 hours.
