Operator Identified in Fatal Crash on Skyline Trail in Chester

On Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at approximately 3:42 a.m. troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Russell responded to a one-vehicle crash on Skyline Trail north of Holcomb Road in Chester that resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Carlos L. Nunez indicates 27-year-old David Carrasquillo of Westfield was operating a 1990 Honda Accord northbound on Skyline Trail and as the vehicle passed Holcomb Road the Carrasquillo lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the right shoulder of the road and collided into a utility pole. Carrasquillo sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. He was wearing his safetybelt at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section & the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Chester Fire Department and Westfield Paramedics assisted troopers at the scene.

Due to the investigation and vehicle recovery Skyline Trail was closed in both directions for approximately 5 ΒΌ hours.
