State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 114 in Danvers

Yesterday, at approximately 4:00 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police barracks in Danvers responded to a serious crash on the ramp from Route 95 North to Route 114 West in Danvers which resulted in a fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Brian Bandini indicates that a 2000 Honda sedan was exiting Route 95 North on the ramp to Route 114 West, when the operator lost control of the vehicle crossing over onto the ramp from Route 114 West to 95 North, striking a 2004 Honda sedan and subsequently rolling-over down an embankment. The operator of the 2000 Honda, 61 year-old William J. Fields of Lynn, was taken to Beverly Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. The operator of the 2004 Honda, 72 year-old Gilbert Davis Jr. of Amesbury, was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital with minor injuries. The passenger of the 2004 Honda, 73 year-old Jean Davis of Amesbury, was also taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Danvers Fire Department, Danvers Police Department and MassHighways all assisted at the scene.

The ramp from Route 114 West to Route 95 North was closed for approximately 2 hours during the investigation.
