State Police Apprehend Armed Robbery Suspect Fleeing from New Hampshire
Today, at about 1:40 a.m., the Nashua (NH) Police Department advised the Massachusetts State Police that they were attempting to stop a vehicle wanted in connection with an armed robbery in their city. They further advised that the vehicle, a 1996 Toyota, was traveling on Route 3 South and had entered Massachusetts. Trooper John McNeil from the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Andover responded to the area and observed the vehicle on Route 40 in Westford. The operator of the Toyota continued to attempt to elude police and traveled onto Route 3 in Westford. The operator exited Route 3 at Westford Road. The operator ultimately lost control of the Toyota on Westford Road in Tyngsboro. The vehicle came to final rest against along a guardrail.
Trooper McNeil arrested the operator of the Toyota, 37 year old Jay Hanson of Lowell (MA), for the following offenses: Fugitive from Justice; Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle; Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (to wit a motor vehicle); Speeding; Failure to Stay within Marked Lanes; Failure to Stop/Yield; Breakdown Lane Violation; One Way Violation.
Hanson was transported to the State Police Barracks in Andover where he was booked and held pending arraignment in Lowell District Court.
