State Police Investigate Route 1A Fatal Crash in Lynn

State Police Investigate Route 1A Fatal Crash in Lynn

Yesterday, at about 11:05 p.m., State Police from the Revere Barracks responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Route 1A at the Nahant Rotary in Lynn.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Donald Brown indicates that a 2002 Honda Odyssey, was traveling north on Route 1A in Lynn. As the Honda approached the Nahant Rotary, it hit a curb and rolled over. Neither the operator of the Honda, Shawn Bates, age 27, of Lynn, nor his passenger, William L. Parish, age 26, of Lynn, was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. Both were ejected, suffering fatal injuries, and were pronounced deceased at scene.

Though the crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, excessive speed appears to have been a factor. The State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Lynn Police Department and the Lynn Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene.
