Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Muldowney indicates a 1998 Ford Contour, operated by Kevin R. Cortissoz, a 50-year-old male from Holbrook, MA, was traveling the wrong way on Route 93 South. It is believed the Ford entered Route 93 South from Exit 9 (East Milton Square) and continued to travel north on Route 93 South in the high-speed lane. Approximately ¼ mile north of exit 11 (Granite Avenue) the Ford collided head-on into a 2005 Toyota Highlander. Thirty-three-year-old Daisy G. Nagy of Kingston, MA operated the Toyota. She was traveling south on Route 93 South in the left lane. After impact the Ford came to rest in the left lane and the Toyota came to rest in the right lane. Both operators required extrication with the assistance of the Milton Fire Department. Cortissoz was not wearing his safety-belt. He sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. Nagy was wearing her safety-belt. She sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries. She was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of State Police Detectives assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Milton Fire Department and Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.

All lanes of Route 93 South were closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. Traffic was diverted off Route 93 South at exit 12 and back on at exit 11 resulting in minimal traffic congestion.
