State Police Participate in the 24th Annual "National Night Out 2007"
Members of the Massachusetts State Police from the Air Wing, Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, K-9 Section and various State Police Community Action Teams will assist local police in Boston, Holyoke, Kingston, Northborough, New Bedford and Brockton to help strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
The following are the schedule of
- Colonel Mark Delaney, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Smith, members of the H-Troop Community action team and troopers from the State Police Milton Barracks will assist the Boston Police with a crime fighting event held at the Franklin Park Zoo admission free from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- The State Police Air Wing K-9, Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and B Troop Community Action Team will provide demonstrations and display of MSP assets at Crosier Field in Holyoke between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The State Police Air Wing is available for static display and viewing at the Kingston Intermediate School between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- The State Police Traffic Programs Section will provide the Roll-Over Simulator to educate the local citizens on the importance of wearing safety belts at the Ellsworth-MacAfee Park in Northboro between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
- The Massachusetts State Police Stop team van will be on display and several State Police motorcycles and cruisers will be involved in a police vehicle parade. Also, the State Police K-9 and New Bedford K-9 unit will conduct joint demonstrations and the D-Troop Community Action team will be displaying State Police vehicles at the Gomes School in New Bedford between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
- The Brockton Rox Baseball Team will play a baseball game with free admission at the Campanelli Stadium after a police car parade, and the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing display held in Brockton between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
National Night Out was designed to involve local citizens in their own safety. It makes local community members more aware of ways to prevent crimes. The Massachusetts State Police firmly support these values as well our partnerships with all of the local communities and will do whatever is necessary to support these important crime prevention initiatives.
