State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 1 South in Plainville

Today, at approximately 9:35 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police barracks in Foxboro responded to a one-vehicle serious crash on Route 1 South, near the Plainville Truck Stop in Plainville.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Robert Klimas, indicates that 18 year-old William F. Downey of North Attleboro, was operating a 1994 Lincoln sedan when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a utility pole. Downey was taken by Life Flight Helicopter to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Plainville Fire Department, Plainville Police Department and Masshighways all assisted at the crash scene.

Route 1 in both directions was shutdown to traffic during the crash investigation.
