State Police Complete Search of Vessel Raised from Nantucket Sound

For the second day, yesterday, April 26, 2007, members of the State Police Underwater Recovery Team continued their search of the raised vessel, Lady of Grace, however were again unable locate any additional lost crew members.

Yesterday, team members arrived at Quonset Point, RI at 10:00 a.m., where the raised vessel, Lady of Grace, had been transported by a private salvage company. Two members of the Underwater Recovery Team continued their search of the vessel while it was secured on the deck of a barge. They searched in areas and compartments that they had been unable to enter previously and re-checked areas that had already been searched by divers. A State Police K-9, trained in human recovery, assisted in the mission. A member of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section was also on scene. No additional crewmembers were located during the search and it was concluded at 3:00 p.m.

Coast Guard investigators will continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sinking of the vessel.
