State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 95 in Salisbury
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Stephen O'Connell indicates a juvenile male was operating a 1998 Ford Explorer on Route 95 South in the right travel lane when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway. The operator turned the vehicle to the left, crossed all lanes of southbound traffic and continued into the median where the vehicle rolled over and came to rest upright. The operator and the 56-year old passenger Mark Augusta of Hampton Halls, NH were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and at some point during the crash the operator was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the second travel lane of Route 95 North. The operator and Augusta both sustained serious injuries in the crash. The juvenile operator was transported to Anna Jacques Hospital by the Salisbury Fire Department and Augusta was transported to Exeter Hospital by the Seabrook Fire Department.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The New Hampshire State Police, the Seabrook Fire Department, the Salisbury Police Department, the Salisbury Fire Department and Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.
During the investigation and vehicle recovery Route 95 North was restricted to two lanes of travel for approximately 2 ½ hours. First the right two lanes were closed, then the left two lanes.
No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
