State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 195 East in Seekonk

Today at approximately 1:39 a.m. troopers assigned to the North Dartmouth Barracks responded to a serious crash involving one vehicle on Route 195 East in Seekonk that resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Neil Cadorette indicates that a 1996 Jeep Cherokee SUV operated by 21 year-old Kyle R. Whalen of Fall River was traveling on Route 195 East, east of exit 1 (Seekonk) in Seekonk when he lost control and suffered a roll-over crash in the middle lane. Whalen sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. 21 year-old Angela R. Sbardella of Fall River was seriously injured as a result of the crash and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers, 18 year-old Amy L. Garant of Fall River and 26 year-old Brendan Reagan of San Diego, CA were taken by ambulance with minor injuries to Rhode Island Hospital. Also, a juvenile male passenger was taken with serious injuries to Rhode Island Hospital.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Bristol District Attorney's Office. The Seekonk Police and Fire Departments, East Providence Fire and Rescue, Barrington Fire Department and Masshighways assisted troopers at the scene.

During the crash investigation and vehicle removal the two right travel lanes of Route 195 East were closed .
