State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 190 in Sterling

Today at approximately 2:48 a.m. troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Holden responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 190 northbound in Sterling that resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Daniel Riopel indicates a 2000 Honda Civic operated by twenty - six year old Renny Garcia of Worcester was traveling on Route 190 northbound in Sterling north of Route 140 (Exit 5). Garcia lost control of the Honda and it struck the guardrail at the median. As a result of this crash, Garcia was partially ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Garcia was not wearing a safety belt.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section & the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Members of the Sterling and West Boylston Fire Departments and Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.

Due to the investigation and vehicle recovery, the left lane of Route 190 northbound was closed for approximately two hours.
