State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury

On Monday, May 28, 2007 at approximately 9:53 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Milton responded to a single vehicle motorcycle crash on the Veterans of Foreign Wars Parkway North that resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper James Morris indicates that 32 year-old Brian Donohue of Jamaica Plain was operating a 2007 Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle in the left lane of the VFW Parkway North when he lost control of the motorcycle. Donohue was thrown from the motorcycle and struck the guardrail. As a result of the crash, Donohue sustained serious injuries and was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Although this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, it appears that speed may have been a factor in the crash. The State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Boston Police Department, Dedham Police Department, Boston Fire Department, Boston EMS, and the Massachusetts Highway Department assisted troopers on scene.

During the investigation and vehicle removal, all lanes of the VFW Parkway North were closed for approximately 2 hours.

No other information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
