State Police Investigate Route 128 Waltham Crash

On January 20, 2007, at about 11:30 p.m., State Police from the Concord barracks responded to a one-car, rollover crash on Route 128 South, just south of exit 27 (Winter Street), in Waltham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Robert Duprey indicates that a man was traveling on Route 128 South in a 1998 Mercedes ML3 SUV when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash onto the left side guardrail. The operator was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Waltham Fire Department. He was then transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic for treatment of serious injuries.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Waltham Police and Waltham EMS also assisted at the scene.

The left travel lanes on the northbound and southbound sides were closed for about 30 minutes.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
