State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 190 in Worcester

Today at approximately 3:30 p.m. troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Holden were informed that 39-year old Wanda Molina of Fitchburg had succumb to the injuries sustained in Friday's crash on Route 190 South in Worcester. She was declared deceased at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

On Friday, August 24, 2007 at approximately 8:40 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Holden responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 190 South at Gold Star Boulevard (Exit #1) in Worcester that resulted in one serious injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Fox indicates that 19 year-old David Molina of Fitchburg was operating a 1997 Toyota Tercel sedan in the middle lane of Route 190 South in Worcester when he abruptly attempted to exit the highway at Exit # 1. As David Molina attempted to exit the highway, the rear passenger's side of his Toyota collided with the front driver's side of a 2006 Buick Lucern sedan operated by 46 year-old Nancy Mouradian of Worcester. The collision caused the Toyota to lose control and spin out into the grassy island between the Exit # 1 ramp and the right travel lane of Route 190 South. In the grassy island, the Toyota collided with and knocked down the Exit # 1 highway sign before coming to final rest on the Exit # 1 off-ramp. A passenger of the Toyota, 39 year-old Wanda Molina of Fitchburg was transported by ambulance to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester with serious injuries. David Molina and Nancy Mouradian were both not injured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Worcester Fire Department, Worcester EMS and MassHighway assisted troopers at the scene.

During the investigation and vehicle removal, the ramp from Route 190 South to Exit # 1 was closed for approximately 3 hours.

No further information is available at this time. Please do not contact the barracks directly.
