State Police Respond to Three-Vehicle Crash on Route 495 in Wrentham
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jason Morse indicates that 2002 Chevrolet K1500 Pick-up was traveling southbound on Route 495 North when it struck head on a 2006 Hyundai Sedan which was traveling northbound on Route 495 North. The vehicles then collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Sedan.
The operator of the Pick-up, Matthew McCaffrey, age 29, of West Roxbury, was arrested on scene for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol; Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol - Negligent Operation; Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol - Causing a Serious Personal Injury Crash; Operating to Endanger; Wrong-way Operation and Speeding. He was transported to Milford Hospital where he was treated and released. He was then transported to the State Police barracks in Foxboro pending arraignment in Wrentham District Court.
The operator of the Hyundai, Joseph Cabral III, age 41, of Taunton, was transported with serious injuries to Rhode Island Hospital.
The operator of the Chevrolet Sedan, Kimba Ngoy, age 43, of Milford, was transported with minor injuries to Milford Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
Route 495 North was shut down after the crash (with traffic being diverted onto Route 1A (Exit 15) in Wrentham) until about 6:00 a.m. The State Police Crime Scene Services, MassHighway, the Wrentham Police Department, Wrentham Fire and Rescue, Plainville Fire and Rescue, and Franklin Fire and Rescue assisted troopers at the scene.
