State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 24 North in Bridgewater
Preliminary investigation by Trooper John Smith indicates that 42-year-old James Stone of Middleboro was operating a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup on Route 24 North in Bridgewater when the vehicle lost control, exited the road to the right, and rolled over before coming to rest on its driver's side. Stone, who was not wearing his safety belt, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was later declared deceased.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Bridgewater Fire Department and Masshighways assisted troopers at the scene.
Due to the investigation and vehicle removal, the right travel lane of Route 24 North was closed for over 2 ½ hours.
