State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 128 in Waltham

Today, at approximately 3:00 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Framingham responded to a single-vehicle; pedestrian crash on Route 128 North, south of Route 20, in Waltham that resulted in one Serious Injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Sharon Healey indicates that 49-year-old Nancy Tripp of Westford was operating a 2005 Ford Five Hundred on Route 128 North in the left lane when the vehicle struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the highway on foot

The pedestrian, 45 year-old John Cullen of Waltham, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) by ambulance.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. The Waltham Police Department, the Waltham Fire Department, and Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.

Due to the investigation the two left lanes of Route 128 North were closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
