State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 1 in Wrentham

On Saturday, July 26, 2008, at approximately 6:56 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Foxboro responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 1 South in Wrentham that resulted in two fatalities and one serious injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher Booth indicates that 19-year-old Alexa Latteo of Mansfield was operating a 2007 Pontiac G5 on Route 1 South in the vicinity of Myrtle Street in Wrentham when she lost control of her vehicle, exited the road to the right and crashed head-on into a tree. Latteo, who was not wearing a safety belt, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. The front seat passenger, 20-year-old Debra Davis of Milton, was wearing a safety belt, but suffered serious injuries in the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. The rear seat passenger, 20-year-old Nina Houlihan of Norton, was not wearing a safety belt, and was taken by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Wrentham Fire Department, Wrentham Police Department, and MassHighway assisted troopers on scene.

Due to the crash investigation and vehicle removal, the right travel lane of Route 1 South was closed for approximately 1 hour.
