State Police Apprehend Dangerous Fugitive in Chicopee

Today at approximately 8:30 A.M., members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Massachusetts State Police Special Tactics and Operations Team (S.T.O.P. Team) and the United States Marshal Service apprehended a subject without incident who was believed to be 47-year-old Felix Maldonado at 32 Plante Circle in Chicopee after an extensive two day search with the Chicopee Police Department. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Felix Maldonado is an alias and the subject's true identity is 43-year-old Alfredo Gonsalez of 30 Plante Circle in Chicopee.

Gonsalez was wanted by the Chicopee Police Department for Armed Assault with a Firearm in a Dwelling, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm), and Intimidation of a Witness stemming from an incident on Sunday, March 16, 2008.

Additionally, Gonsalez will be arraigned today in Chicopee District Court on the following State Police charges that resulted from his involvement in a motor vehicle pursuit on Tuesday March 25, 2008 that originated in Chicopee and ended in West Springfield where Gonsalez fled on foot in Paucatuck Park and alluded capture: Failure to Stop for a Police Officer; Operating after Revocation; and Negligent Operation. Gonsalez will also be charged as a Fugitive from Justice in connection with warrants issued in the State of Connecticut.
