State Police Investigate a Fatal Crash on Ramp From Haymarket Square to Logan Airport in Boston

Today, at approximately 2:13 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Ted William's Tunnel Barracks in Boston responded to a single motorcycle crash on the ramp from Haymarket Square to Logan International Airport in Boston that resulted in one fatal.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Johanna Lawlor-Moore indicates that 19-year-old Christopher Maurer of Charlestown was operating a 2003 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle on the ramp from Haymarket Square to Logan International Airport when he lost control of the motorcycle. The Honda crashed into a catwalk located on the right shoulder of the ramp and Maurer sustained serious injuries. Maurer was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was later declared deceased.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Boston Fire Department and Boston EMS assisted Troopers at the scene.

Due to the investigation and vehicle recovery the ramp from Haymarket Square to Logan Airport was closed for approximately ½ hours.
