State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 495 North in North Andover
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Julio Perez indicates that 32-year-old Stephanie Masick of Danvers was operating a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the on-ramp from Route114 to Route 495 North in North Andover when she lost control of the vehicle, struck the guardrail off the right side of the ramp, traveled back across the ramp and across all three lanes of Route 495 North where her vehicle was struck in the left lane by a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 50-year-old Carl Stankiewicz of Dracut. Stankiewicz, who was wearing his safety belt, received minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital. Masick sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital. Masick was later taken by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The North Andover Fire Department, North Andover EMS and MassHighway assisted troopers at the scene.
Due to the investigation and vehicle removal, the left and middle lanes of Route 495 North were closed for approximately 2 hours. During this time, traffic was diverted around the scene in the right and breakdown lanes.
