Massachusetts State Police to Hold Award Ceremony

On Thursday, October 30, 2008, Colonel Mark F. Delaney, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, will award medals to 10 members of the Massachusetts State Police, seven members of the Boston Police Department and one civilian.
The medals to be awarded will be as follows: the Medal of Valor, given for bravery and courage; the Medal of Merit given for achievement; and the Medal of Lifesaving, given for saving the life of another. Additionally, one Public Service Award will be awarded to recognize a civilian who has provided outstanding assistance to the Department of State Police.
The ceremony will be held at the Grand Staircase of the State House in Boston at 11 a.m. Members of the media are welcome to attend the ceremony and are asked to confirm potential attendance with the Office of Media Relations at 508-820-2623.
