Sept 24: Media Invited to the Academy for Scenario Training Night
The Municipal Police Officer Recruit Academy is being held for the first time at the State Police Academy in New Braintree. The training is being offered by the Massachusetts State Police in conjunction with the Municipal Police Training Committee. Recruit officers from twenty-two agencies throughout the Commonwealth will participate in tonight's training and will graduate from the police academy on Friday, September 26, 2008 during a ceremony held at the State Police Academy.
| Some of the scenarios recruit officers will face during tonight's training include: | |
| • | An underage house party involving alcohol |
| • | An officer down critical incident (The State Police Airwing will assist) |
| • | A roll-over car crash with personal injury (The New Braintree Fire Department will assist) |
| • | A high risk motor vehicle stop with shots fired (using Simmunitions) |
| • | A domestic violence call in a residential setting on the academy grounds |
In order to ensure a safe training environment, members of the media interested in attending are asked to report to the front lobby of the academy, located at 340 West Brookfield Road, New Braintree, no later than 7:30 p.m.
