State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on the Lowell Connector in Lowell

Last evening, April 3, 2009, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Andover responded to a single-vehicle crash southbound on the Lowell Connector at Industrial Avenue in Lowell that resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Robert MacAllister indicates that a 2000 Audi sedan operated by 25-year-old Pannharith Tralong of Lowell, was traveling southbound on the Lowell Connector he lost control, struck the median guardrail and rolled over before coming to rest on its roof. Tralong, who was wearing a safety belt, was transported with serious injuries to Lowell General Hospital and was subsequently transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Lowell Police and Fire Departments and MassHighway assisted Troopers on scene.

Due to the crash investigation and vehicle removal, the left and center southbound travel lanes of the Lowell Connector were closed for approximately 2 hours.
