Off-Duty Trooper Killed in Motorcycle Accident

The Massachusetts State Police regret to announce that Trooper Dennis M. Eugin, while off-duty, died this morning when the motorcycle he was operating crashed in the town of Agawam. Trooper Eugin lost control of the motorcycle shortly before 4 a.m. on South Westford Street. He was 40.

The accident remains under investigation by the Agawam Police Department, with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services Sections.

Trooper Eugin, a Greenfield resident, joined the State Police in 1996 and was assigned to the Shelburne Falls Barracks. He previously served in the Cheshire Barracks.

The Department of State Police is profoundly saddened by the loss of Trooper Eugin and extends its deepest condolences to his family and his colleagues.

Trooper Eugin is survived by several members of his immediate family.
