State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Furnace Brook Parkway Quincy
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Andrew Tobin indicates that a 2003 Acura MDX operated by 63-year-old Hellen Do of Quincy was stopped at the red light on Waban Road at the intersection of Furnace Brook Parkway when it was struck from the rear by a 2006 GMC Yukon operated by 39-year-old Karen M. Kelley of Quincy. The collision pushed the Acura into the intersection, causing it to strike the passenger side of a 2002 Chevrolet pick-up truck, operated by 62-year-old Andrew Taylor of Quincy, which was traveling eastbound on Furnace Brook Parkway. The Chevrolet pick-up truck was pushed into the westbound travel lane of Furnace Brook Parkway, where it collided head-on with a 1998 Ford sanding truck, owned by the City of Quincy and operated by 36-year-old Francis S. Maher Jr. of Quincy.
Taylor sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Maher, Do and a passenger in her vehicle, 65-year-old Jimmy Doan of Quincy, were all transported by ambulance to Quincy Medical Center with minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section. The Quincy Police and Fire Departments assisted Troopers at the scene.
