State Police Investigate Serious Crash on Route 91 in Holyoke

Today at 1:22 a.m., Troopers from the State Police Barracks in Northampton responded to calls of a one-car crash on Route 91 northbound in Holyoke which has resulted in one serious injury and one minor injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Eric French indicates that 22-year-old Kaliegh Ward from Greenfield was operating a 2006 Acura MDX when she struck the guardrail and then rolled over down the embankment of the median. Holyoke Fire used the Jaws of Life to remove the Ward and she was transported to Baystate with serious injuries. A passenger, 18 year-old Amber Ouillette from Greenfield was injured with minor injuries and transported to Baystate

The northbound side was closed for approximately three hours during the crash investigation and vehicle removal.

The facts and circumstances of this crash remain under investigation by Troop B of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section.

Troopers were additionally assisted at the scene by the Holyoke Fire Department, Holyoke Police Department, and the Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation
