State Police Investigate Accident on Route 90 in West Springfield

Today at 7:50 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Westfield responded to reports of an accident involving a toll-taker and a tractor-trailer unit.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Stanley Dewberry from Troop E of the Massachusetts State Police, indicates that 63-year-old David J. Pandolf from West Springfield was struck by the vehicle while outside of the toll booth. Pandolf, who sustained serious injuries, was transported to Baystate Hospital in Springfield by responding EMS personnel.

Traffic was waved through the tolls for 11 minutes.

Troopers at the scene were assisted by the State Police Commercial Motor-Vehicle Enforcement Section, the West Springfield Fire Department and the Massachusetts Highway Division.
