State Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Wareham

Today at 3:37 p.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Bourne responded to reports of a one-vehicle crash on Route 195 eastbound in Wareham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Mark Cohen indicates that the vehicle veered off the right shoulder and then re-entered the roadway, striking the right hand side guardrail. The vehicle subsequently rolled over and came to rest in the right travel lane, with the lone male occupant trapped inside.

The operator was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and responding EMS personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

All travel lanes were closed for approximately one hour while the investigation was completed.

This crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were additionally assisted at the scene by the Wareham Fire Department, the Marion Police Department, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation-Highway Division.
