State Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Route 93 North in Braintree
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Durning indicates that 60-year-old Paul Plonowski of Hanover was operating a 1998 Toyota Camry in the middle right travel lane. Two juveniles were attempting to cross the highway. The juveniles had crossed the southbound side and were attempting to cross the northbound side when one of them, a 16-year-old boy from Randolph, was struck by the Toyota. The victim was severely injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. Please note that State Police do not release the identity of juvenile victims.
The facts and circumstances of this crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Braintree Fire Department, the state Department of Transportation Highway Division, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
During the crash investigation the roadway was closed for three hours for vehicle removal and crash investigation.
