UPDATE - State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Mass Avenue Bridge

Today at 5:49 p.m., troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Boston responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge in Boston that resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to two other people.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Kevin O'Neil indicates that a 1997 Lexus ES300 operated by 58 year-old Cheryl A. Anderson-Young from Beverly, was heading across the bridge from Cambridge to Boston, crossed the double solid yellow lines on the Boston side and crashed head-on into a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria taxi heading in the opposite direction.

Anderson-Young was transported by ambulance to Beth Israel with serious injuries. Her passenger, Christina Anderson 79, also from Beverly, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The taxi driver, Ibrahim Nabile 46 from Malden, was transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit.. Troopers at the scene were assisted by the Boston and Cambridge Fire Departments, Boston EMS, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

All traffic on the bridge was closed for approximately two hours.
