State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Route 93 in Wilmington

Today at 1:17 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Andover responded to a two-car crash on Route 93 northbound, south of Route 129 in Wilmington, which resulted in a fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper John Ragosa indicates that a 2006 Nissan Altima operated by a 22-year-old Monique Forster of Tewksbury was traveling on Route 93 northbound when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the left guardrail, coming to rest in the left travel lane. Subsequently, a 2006 Honda Accord also traveling on Route 93 northbound then struck the Honda. The Honda's driver, 35-year-old Miguel Ortiz-Calderon of North Andover, was injured and transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Ms. Forster was also transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic, where she was pronounced deceased.

As a result of the crash, the left two travel lanes were closed for approximately two hours for crash investigation and vehicle removal.

The facts and circumstances of the crash are under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wilmington Fire Department, Wilmington Police Department, and the Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
