State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 128 in Wenham

Today at approximately 02:47 a.m. Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Danvers responded to a one-vehicle accident on Route 128 northbound, north of exit 17 (Grapvine road) in Wenham which resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Sargent indicates that a 24-year-old male from Manchester By The Sea was driving a 2004 Audi north on Route 128 when the vehicle went over the left guardrail then into trees in the median. The operator was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's name is being withheld pending proper family notification.

This crash is under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Gloucester Beverly and Wenham Police, Wenham Fire and the D.O.T. Highway Division assisted Troopers at the scene.

Route 128 northbound remains closed due to investigation and vehicle removal. No further information is available. Please do not call the barracks directly.
