State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 24 in Stoughton
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Durning indicates 23-year-old Matthew Standbury of Brockton was operating a 2002 Jeep when his vehicle lost control crossing into the northbound side rolling over ejecting three occupants. Standbury was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In addition to Standbury, six Boston area individuals were in the Jeep. One of them, Yaminah Morency 18, to Good Samaritan Hospital, Rushekai Reid, 20, Ricardo Stewart, 21, Claire Salmon 20, all transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. Sathina Salomon was Medflighted to Beth Israel with serious injuries.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Medical Examiners Office. The Stoughton Fire Department, Randolph Police Department, Avon Fire Department , Canton Fire Department and the Department of Transportation assisted Troopers at the scene.
During the crash investigation, the far right travel lane northbound and southbound was closed to traffic.
