State Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Route 1 in Sharon
Preliminary investigation conducted by Trooper Anthony Fabiano indicates that a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 pick-up truck, being operated on Route 1 north by 51-year-old Brian Hernon of Dedham, struck an unidentified male party. Witnesses report that the pedestrian walked into the path on the oncoming vehicle, was struck by the vehicle, and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by responding EMS personnel.
The left travel lane was closed for approximately two hours and both lanes were closed for 10 minutes, while the investigation was completed.
The identity of the victim remains unknown and is under investigation.
This crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
Troopers were additionally assisted at the scene by Sharon Fire/Rescue, the Sharon Police Department, the Medical Examiner's Office, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division.
No charges are expected to be filed in this crash.
