State Police Locate Missing Fisherman at the Quabbin Reservoir
Two men had gone fishing during the early evening and later became separated. The first man exited the reservoir and called 911 for help. The missing man was not in possession of a cell phone with which to communicate or determine his position.
Troopers at the Belchertown Barracks were able to contact the fisherman's family who advised that they had not heard from him since earlier in the evening.
State Police deployed several K-9 teams, as well as numerous assisting Troopers, and after searching for several hours, one of the K9 teams heard the man in the woods. A subsequent search by assisting Troopers located the man a short distance away at 12:10 a.m.
The man was located in good health and his identity is being withheld at this time.
Troopers at the scene were assisted by officers from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
No further information is available at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
