State Police Recover a Body From the Hopkinton State Park
Two people had been canoeing and subsequently capsized. One man was unaccounted for and the State Police mobilized assets into the area to search for the missing person. The man was reported to not be wearing a lifejacket when he went into the water.
Dispatched was a State Police helicopter, the State Police Underwater Recovery Team, and numerous additional State Police Troopers for ground support.
At 8:10 p.m., divers from the State Police Underwater Recovery Team located the body of the victim. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding EMS personnel.
Troopers from the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's office also responded and are conducting the investigation.
Assisting State Police personnel at the scene were the Hopkinton Police and Fire Departments as well as the Ashland Police and Fire Departments.
Any further information, including the identity and residence of the victim, will be released by the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
