State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 3 in Plymouth

On Saturday, May 29, 2010, at approximately 8:17 p.m., Troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Bourne responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 3 southbound between exit 4 and 3 in Plymouth that resulted in one fatal and two injuries.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Robert Pinto indicates that a 2010 Honda Civic operated by 28 year old Patrick J Crawford from Plymouth was traveling on Route 3 south when the operator lost control of the Honda striking the guardrail and then rolling over ejecting Crawford on to the roadway. A 2000 Mazda 626 was traveling Route 3 southbound operated by an Amanda Watson from Plymouth, which then struck Crawford who was in the roadway. Mr. Crawford was pronounced deceased at the scene and a passenger in the Honda, 19 year-old David Townsend from Hull was seriously injured and transported to Jordan Hospital. Ms Watson was transported to Jordan Hospital with minor injuries.

The facts and circumstances surrounding this crash remain under investigation at this time. Route 3 was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours for crash investigation and vehicle removal.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Medical Examiners Office. State Police were assisted by Plymouth Fire and the Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
