State Police Investigate Serious Crash in West Bridgewater
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Brian Pacheco indicates that 43-year-old Patrick Lynch from Shrewsbury was operating his motorcycle, entering onto Route 24 southbound from the ramp from Route 106, when he lost control and fell over. He was subsequently thrown off the motorcycle, struck the guardrail, and was then struck by a 1997 Honda Civic being operated by 28-year-old Michael Kelly of Swansea.
Mr. Lynch was taken by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
The left and middle travel lanes of Route 24 south were closed for approximately 2 hours while the investigation was conducted. All travel lanes of Route 24, both North and South, were closed for approximately 30 minutes while the medical helicopter landed to transport the victim.
This crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Service Section. No charges are expected to be filed.
Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the West Bridgewater Fire Department.
